The Yoruba People Say: The Rainbow is the Pride of the Heavens.

Ochumare, or sometimes spelled Osumare, Oshumare or Osunmare, is an Yoruba goddess and is considered the cosmic channel amongst the goddesses of the Universe. She links the goddesses to the Earth and the Universe. She is usually depicted as a nude black woman wearing a winged mask who sits in a lotus position as She balances the rainbow between Her outstretched arms. Take note that Her name "Ochumare" has "mare" at the end. As with Olodumare (Supreme Deity) Ochumare has a supreme source of power.
She rest in beauty of self awareness. She is blissful because She is in tune with the Universe. She sits upon the Universal waters and the cosmic lily pads symbolizing Her eternal presence. Her nudity symbolizes Her purity and the ultimate "Pride of self". Her mask is a sign of strength within Her mystery. The Earth in Her lap spins from the absolute energy that she provides from Her navel. She is the source of Cosmic power, and is the roadway to divine mental consciousness. Ochumare is often associated with the Primordial Energy of Kundalini, Charkas, Reiki, Yoga, Meditation and the "Serpent Power of Healing."

Ochumare's Other Aspect

Ochumare is also believed to be androgynous or often thought of as transgender, spending some of Her time as male energy, and some of the time as female energy. This is why you will often see Her as a male deity. Perhaps this is because of Her supreme energy. Supreme Creator gods, or gods with Supreme Power, often hold the responsibility of contributing to the balance of the Universe, and especially when other gods and goddesses depend on their cosmic energy, and especially if that energy is sexual or Kundalinai. So like Obatala and Olodumare Her balanced energy is very stated.

Ochumare Favorite Thing

Ochumare's favorite things are snake and rainbows. The snakes represent the Kundalini energy, and the rainbow represent balanced energy and the energy of the chakras. Ochumare is a guardian of children. S/he is also the guardian of the umbilical cord which represents the connection between nurture, energy and life.
